Words of Wisdom for Wind Worshipers (from Quetzalcoatl)....

Post by Quetzalcoatl »

Wind Worshipers:

The Fall winds have Returned! Get out there and harvest the Fall Winds. These are the Best of Winds! (Spring is pretty darn good too).

But: put on your rubber armor and SAIL! Remember: Dress for the swim in, NOT for the sail out. OH also...Kiteboarding and windsurfing in the Fall,

the water is warmer than Spring. In the Spring the water has been thawing out from ICE! It takes a while to warm up (Weeks if not a couple months in deeper big lakes).

But in the Fall, the water has been warmed up all summer...so it's just a matter of cooling down over weeks (days in shallow small lakes).

If air temp is 60ish...wear 5 mm. wetsuit. (3/2 wetsuits are good for cool summer days). If it's in the 50's (air temp) still the 5 mm is OK. But if it's in the 40's or below,

a Dry suit or a "Steamer" wetsuit 0f 5mm or 6 or 7 mm will keep you alive! Honestly, my 5 mm with a 2mm vest underneath keeps me sailing and warm right up to November, (then my

Dry suit goes on for November and sometimes for December. But in the Spring,,,it's the other way around. I have to wear the Dry-suit in March, April and first two weeks of May.

There's two and a half months more of soft water activity left Here in the upper Midwest. Sail on Worshipers of the Wind.
