Just want to pay tribute to advances ( a rather late mention) in Windsurfing Technology.
My first windsurf set-up was an old Hyfly 12 ft board and a "Tie on" boom. This was in 2001. (I just didn't know any better) when I bought
some really old used stuff. Well after a few times of not functioning very well and the "very old" tendon of the U-joint just "broke off, I took my
first trip to "The House" where "famous" House rep. J.C. custom made me a Universal joint and sold me a Pacific (not expensive) "Clip on Boom!" Wow this is when the fun began!
Just clip boom onto the mast and GO!!! Oh....and then I bought a used 44cm Curtis Weed fin from Geof (of St. Paul) who only kiteboards now (I think).
I still use that weed fin....not only to slash through weeds but also debris and over submerged logs whenever we get heavy rainfalls which brings logs into the Missip.
and I bet this happens in the St. Croix as well.
So....you windsurfers DO have clip on booms (I'm sure). NOW get yourselves a weed fin so you can sail in lakes that get weeded and also when there's debris in the spring or after heavy rainfalls.
Quetzalcoatl.
Windsurfing on the Rise!
Happiness is a clip on boom and a WEED fin!
