After a bit of searching, Vojta and I found the famed polo fields. Denis was already there, Matt K. and Peter showed up as well. The snow was hanging on to the grass and the conditions were surprisingly great. There was a mixture of drifts and exposed grass though you couldn't really feel too much of a difference other than the deep drifts slowing you down.
Better directions:
12 through Maple Plain to 90. 90 south to Turner Rd. Right then after about a mile the polo fields are on your left. Turn in drive. Respect this place and we'll be able to continue to ride hopefully.
Here's some shots.

It was a great time. Didn't have too much time with the first posting, daughter/dinner/distractions...you know the routine.
The snow was blowing pretty much horizontal, sometime really heavy. It was great "riding the land". Would love to hit some of the 1000s of acres of field in N and S dakota, where you could ride and ride. On the far end of the field there were a few horses that were giving us some strange looks.
Vojta was looking as hot as ever...on his old (2000) Naish AR5! Peter was spinning round and round. Denis and Matt were looking smooth on their snowboards....want to try more of that this winter.
Overall a great place to ride before the lakes freeze. Wouldn't be too good on a South wind. Trees to the south and powerlines to the North...not a good combo. NW to NE would be best I think.
And yeah I like the Vojta and Pooch shot as well. The other ones with Peter in the forground and Vojta in the air came out pretty good as well.

I travel all over North and South Dakota for my work (sales) and I can tell you that the wind out there is usually a lot stronger than what I've seen on average in Minnesota just from general observations. (with the possible exception of SW Minnesota).
Every time I've stepped off the plane in Rapid City, SD I get hit with a blast of wind...and it's very steady. I bet the riding out there in amazing...huge open spaces with rolling hills in some areas, and flat in others.
Near Chamberlain, SD there a miles and miles of open areas...basically anything west of Mitchell would work possibly. Chamberain has some nice places to stay as well. It's a big hub for pheasant hunters.
On my next trip I will keep an eye out for some promising locations.
