Video from Calhoun 1.8.03

Post by Tighe »

I just happened to be down playing with my daughter at the park when Jay and Jeff were screamin' by.

About 3/4 of the way through the flick there is some footage of a secret prototype sail/kite that North is developing. No logos though you know it has to be the innovative minds of North behind it. It is green. Clearly these guys seem to be having best time on the ice.

The video is 3 mg, Quicktime.

Was that in the morning, or afternoon? looks pretty solid, so it almost had to be in the morning??

That new kite looks sweet! Do you think Larry is going to get any to test?

And what's with the dog barking at the end? I seem to recall some other videos from Tighe that have that in there... it must be a Tighe trademark. :)

so observant

It was the afternoon, from about 2-4:30. It wasn't nearly as wet as the day before.

Awesome! I didn't think those boards were so manuverable. I know they are scary fast but, hey, nice footwork Jeff!

It's breezy out there now! NW 35 G 43 MPH at St. Cloud.

Yikes!

It was fun, but it just kept getting windier and windier! I was on a 4.7 but by sunset I could have been a on a 3.2 or even smaller! It was too windy to try anything too fancy but the speed was incredible. Just a guess, but I say some of those runs were around 55 to 60 mph! Nice clip Tighe.
May get to Calhoun this afternoon for a little while.

There isnt a lot of choice for new ones any more, but there are always used ones around, or make your own. Stop down at Calhoun or Minnetonka this weeked or any windy day (but not too windy) most people are more than happy to show you what they got, ... somehing to get ideas from.

I've got a freeskate for sale, if anyone is interested. Freeskates are pretty damn nice, although not quite as fancy as the righ guys like Jeff are riding. I just don't have the time to use it anymore - hell, I've only been out kiting once this winter so far.

Make an offer. I'll have to post it in classifieds, too... :)

What's a freeskate

Post by WildBill »

What's a freeskate?? I didn't see it in the classifieds.

I see I gotta get out on the kite early this morning before the wind gets going to strong. Being somewhat new to kiting I can't seem to go slow on skates and end up going faster than the kite a lot :x
ENJOY :) ........... Bill
