board storage rack

Post by Dima »

My 220 and 171 boards, a few sails, and a bunch of hardware take up roughly 1/4 of the garage space.

Has anyone drawings/blueprints of a proper indoor board and sail storage rack? I think the boards ought to to be stacked vertically for the sakes of space.

Like I said: I want to build a proper garage storage for my windsurfing stuff and would like to get some input from you guys on this matter.

I hang some of my boards from the rafters with tie down straps so they can be stored above the cars and dropped down easily to load on top of the roof rack. Just make sure your fin doesn't hit the top of the garage if you load it inside.

I have seen "ladder racks" that look similar to rope ladders in the Magazines. Mine is thick conduit pieces, covered in foam insulation, which are mated to holes in 2x4 pieces. One is for each end, & then they are screwed into the studs in the walls @ about a 4 ft. intervals. The 2x4's are soaked in water prior to assembly so they shrink around the end of the pipes.

I made a board storage 'rack' out of nylon webbing. It holds 3 boards flat against a wall and can also hold sails, masts and booms. If you email me, I can send you photos.
