July 14, 15 weekend will work out perfect for us! I'm off that weekend and the next couple of weekends I'll be in Toronto. I was worried that I'd miss The Gathering this year due to my schedule.

Could someone etch that date in stone for us crazy canucks please!!?

Is the July 14th and the 15th the finalized date? Should rev up the stoke- although given that I counted 40 kites last weekend at Reddy it doesn't appear that any momentum is needed.

14th and 15th are in stone....or should I say wood.
Set dates, the actual days, a letter required from your doctor if you're not there.
Anyone have suggestions for what they'd like to do while we're up there?.

DON"T forget this is a gathering of the LAKAWA clan..kiters and windsurfers. It's just an excuse to get together. Meet the new faces, say hi to the old ones and have some fun.

Terry or Eric, do you think one of you guys could warn the guys at Carlsona we are descending on them again, they may need to buy more beer.

Eric and Terry. Would you guys be interested in finding a bonfire location. We were politely asked last year to not center our social activities again at Pete's Campground. Come up and Camp, yes, but we were a bit loud for the setup they have.

They mentioned the farmer across the road might be open to use using a corner of his field. We could probably raise a bit of money to "rent" it from him for Saturday night for a bon fire.

Either or both of you guys interested in looking into the options?

Since Steve asked so nicely --- I'll be glad to talk to Carlsona and see if we can get the screen porch for Sat night. I'll also see if we can find a different locale for camping and a bonfire close to the north shore.

I've called resorts up and down the east and north shores and haven't found any good options for camping and a bonfire. Several have campsites but can't accomodate a group. The Why Not Park (north of Malmo) would work but they already have a large group for that weekend. Her are two options:

Malmo Community Center --- this building and grounds are available for 7/14 but will not allow a bonfire. It rents for $100/night and requires a $100 deposit/cleaning fee returnable after inspection on Sunday if all trash is removed and the place cleaned.

Father Hennepin State Park --- group camping sites still available for up to 25 but quiet hours after 10 and gates locked at 10.

I'll check with some private land owners still for other options.
Any thoughts or interest in these options?

thanks for your efforts here Terry.

Last year in our discussions with Pete's campground after the event, they suggested talking to the farmer across the street. Might want to stop into Pete's and see if they can help make the contact.

Are there any restrictions for late night activities at Malmo Park? Maybe we opt for torches instead of a bon fire and hang at the park. Just an idea.

Then again if it blows all day and we go and feast at Carlsona, all of this will be for nothing because most likely we'll all crash.

I hope some people are bringing grills cause I know Carlsona will be over flowing.

this is going to be fun....

Terry,
Just got an email from Aaron Saude. He suggested talking to Ron at Carlsona. Said they were open to a similar idea (hangout/bonfire) for the Ralley in the winter. Could work out quite nice for all. Maybe we could suggest picnic tables out on the lawn to increase the number of us they could accomodate for food/drink. More business for them. Aaron also thought he might be open to tents on the property.

If you get a chance, maybe swing by and see what he says.

Unfortunately it sounds like Aaron has a previous planned rock climbing trip so won't attend. Thanks for info Aaron.
