kiteboarding around brainerd
I'm going to be going up north to my parents cabin this weekend and was wondering if anyone knew any good areas to kite between the brainerd and leech lake area. I was thinking pelican lake would be a great lake but i'm not sure if their is a good beach for it.
I hear people get out on North Long lake, not sure where though.
The public beach on pelican is closed for the season, but you might get out at Breezy point...all depends on the wind direction though...otherwise, Milacs Lake is pretty close with great winds...worth the drive if you are that close.

I'm only aware of one public beach on Pelican, which gets pretty crowded during the summer months with swimmers, but it is closed after labor day through memorial day.
Pelican is almost completely developed with housing around it, so it's almost all private property. Breezypoint might be an option, but limited to winds from the south.
Now, if you have a boat, just park in the middle of the lake (or any lake) and jump in!

The beach is still the best option over a boat. The whole trick to getting the good riding spots is pimping the sport to the people that own that beach. Sometimes an easy sell and sometimes not, just keep riding and opportunity will knock.
I belive, as more people get involved in this sport, the more good riding spots will pop up.
